Top 10 San Diego Attractions

San Diego is home to countless historical and modern attractions, from Sea World to the Gallery of Museums at Balboa Park and of course the world famous San Diego Zoo. With free admission to many top attractions, there's no better place to soak up some culture. Take your pick from the most popular San Diego attractions. They are listed below in order of popularity based on visitor numbers in 2007 or latest available numbers.



San Diego Wild Animal Park

The spacious San Diego Wild Animal Park is a wildlife preserve where many of the earth's rarest animals roam together in herds and flocks in vast expanses similar to their native homelands. More than 3,200 animals represent over 400 species. San Diego Wild Animal Park is also an accredited botanical garden with over 3,500 species of exotic plants. It's operated by the not-for-profit Zoological Society of San Diego. The Zoological Society, dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats, also manages the World-Famous San Diego Zoo and the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species (CRES).

The zoo is home to over 4,000 exotic, rare, and endangered animals representing 800 species. Animals include giant pandas from China, koalas from Australia, pygmy chimpanzees from central Africa, Indochinese tigers, a variety of hornbills from Asia, and Andean condors from South America. Unique exhibits include Ituri Forest, Polar Bear Plunge, Rainforest Aviary, Gorilla Tropics, Tiger River, the African Kopje, and Sun Bear Forest. Other highlights are guided double-deck bus tours, the Skyfari aerial tram and the Children's Zoo. The luxuriously planted 100-acre Zoo is also an accredited botanical garden. One of the most popular San Diego attractions in magnificent Balboa Park.


Balboa Park

Parking and admittance to the Park grounds are free and admission prices vary by institution but The Botanical Building, outdoor gardens and some additional attractions are offered free of charge. Balboa Park is the nation's largest urban cultural park. Home to 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the San Diego Zoo, the Park has an ever-changing calendar of museum exhibitions, plays, musicals, concerts, and classes—all in the beautiful and timeless setting of this must-see San Diego attraction.


Sea World

SeaWorld San Diego is one of the world's premier marine adventure parks with 200 acres of world-class shows, thrilling rides and unforgettable animal encounters. LegoLand California
